WWII re-enactment @ Midway village.
There was a 3 day event at Midway Village which hey host every year where they re- enact WWII battles with hundreds and hundreds of American G.I.’s, Germans, British, French and Russian Soldiers. Almost all clothing is authentic, all weapons and tanks are real.
It was such a treat. When you got there there were battles in the distance and it felt as if you were in Normandy, or Bastogne, Foy, anywhere during the war. And they were 10 feet away in a street with explosions going off and tanks everywhere, AA guns firing, Sherman tanks, bazooka’s, anything and everything. And it was LOUD. Such a treat though.
The picture above I got when I was standing on a gravel road and a Sherman with a group of soldiers came driving by. And I HAD to shoot black and white and I got this amazing photograph.
It’s almost as if you were there, sure, some re-enactors are older, but the picture is soo beautiful and just soo eerie. It’s one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken.
