A special thank you to MATT MAWSON (a member of redbubble) for his FRAMED contribution

Donations from members of redbubble for an exhibition with a charatible cause in the aid of HOMELESS animals.

I would like to thank Matt Mawson, who has generously donated a piece of his own work: ‘Mizz Lizzi’ (100% freely) for the first in a series of exhibitions, which will be to raise Funds for homeless organisations. The first in this series is being held for the benefit of the RSPCA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and is Western Australia’s leading animal welfare authority that is responsible for enforcing WA’s Animal Welfare Act).

With the increasing homeless situation in WA due to ever increasing bank lending rates and rising rental prices, many people are facing the possibility of becoming homeless for the first time in their lives. As a result many of these people reluctantly have to give up their pets as a subsequence. The RSPCA are particularly feeling the enormous effects of not having enough funding or facilities to handle the full impact of this anomaly.

The RSPCA has an operational budget of $4Million annually, with an annual $250,000 State Government grant accounting for less than 8% of their operating costs.

A key focus of their current strategy is to generate the additional money needed to improve and expand the Society’s mission to improve the welfare of animals throughout Western Australia by calling upon the community to help fundraise in a number of different ways.

In this instance I have taken on a fundraising project that is not “on the list”. Through raising monies for this NFP organisation by coordinating a art exhibition that will represent a number of artists, I am getting to experience my own artistic expression for the first time since leaving high school, where I excelled in art more than any other subject. Moreover, I find the creative process very therapeutic. The potential outcome will also bring a great sense of satisfaction, particularly if I can obtain my goal of raising $10,000 for this organisation.

Therefore, I thank Matt Mawson for being the very first person from redbubble to give with great spontaneity and generosity, by donating a framed piece of his work that will fit well with the overall theme of the exhibition.

The name of this first exhibition is named:
THE LINK BETWEEN HOMELSS PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

Thanks for the plug, Erika. I hope my work – and the work of all the others who have donated their work – can help you reach your target.
