Ambition

This was so awesome to write. I felt so empowered. And to be honest, this is what I truly seek. However lofty or ambitious it may seem. I can’t help it. I want to leave something behind. The people I mention are people I deeply admire.

Ambition belongs to the following groups:

! Creative Writing & Poetry !, "Poetry and Beautiful Women" , 1620, All Around the Styles, Creative, Talented, and Unknown, Freedom In Words & Art, Live, Love, Dream: , Masterpieces: Literary Workshop, On Youth and Up & Coming Writers

I don’t seek riches
or mountains and mountains of gold.
I don’t seek fame
just for the sake of being known.
No. I would be so dull and empty.

I don’t seek power or greatness
just for sake of feeding my ego.
No, that would be meaningless .
I would live a lifeless life.

Instead,

I seek to be a Socrates,
Wise and reasonable; a great thinker.
I seek to be a da Vinci,
Inventive and ahead of my time.
I want to be a Van Gogh,
My art expressing my emotions.
I want to be a Shakespeare,
Creating timeless, admirable poetry.
I want to be a Galileo,
Bringing new discoveries to the world.
I want to be an Einstein,
Forever lost in my imaginative genius.
I want to be a Joan of Arc,
Inspiring and leading my troops with my boldness.
I want to be an Amelia Earhart,
Daring and unafraid of the unknown.
I want to be a Julian the Apostate,
Forever debating, forever thinking, forever philosophizing.
I want to be a Gandhi,
Embracing change and creating peace with a humane heart.

I don’t want to be a wave or a gentle breeze,
I want to be a hurricane.
I don’t want to be a dwarf,
I want to be a giant.

I want to hold the world in my hand
and longer be a grain of sand.
I want to be a universe
and no longer be another star in the sky.

I want to leave my mark amongst the sea of great people
and live a life of purpose, of meaning, of truth.

I want to give to the world.
I want to share my heart with my fellow human beings.
I want to share my vision, my art, my soul.
I want to be worthy of recognition.
I want to be immortal.

Who is wiser, the fool or the wise man?

  • Erika . replied

hmmm…is this a trick question? I think I’ve heard this kind of question before. But there’s a saying that the fool is happier because he doesn’t know anything. He is happy in his little world (Ignorance is bliss) and the wise man is sadder because he knows the truth of things and reality. I don’t know if this is what you meant….

Yeah, this is awesome, the flip side of the balance you hold within your self, and true to be remembered would be the greatest honor to be bestowed upon any man or woman, riches are not important if your name can’t live on, death Is to be forgotten, not in the last breath we steal in vain…..I love this piece also no wonder you felt empowered, it’s past to the reader through the passion in your words…excellent work friend!!!

  • Erika . replied

“riches are not important if your name can’t live on, death Is to be forgotten, not in the last breath we steal in vain” I love what you have said here, and I completely agree with it. This poem illustrates my hunger to make something of myself, to not let life slip me by, to not look back and say “so what did I do worthwhile?” To me that’s death, I want to have a good answer if I ever ask myself this when I’m old. Life is waiting to be lived, and I want to make every moment of it worthwhile. And I want to give to the world, it’s the least I can do for being given the opportunity to being born into this world and given space to live in it and breathe the air you breathe. Well, I think I’m getting carried away….I tend to do that. Thanks again Spraven I appreciate the favorite as well. X

It’s called passion friend, and you have it from the ends of your hair to the thud in your heart and the song of your soul, this is also a gift….you are the lamb with the sword friend, I mean; you are the soft beauty of earth and the steel strength of the sword, and you lead your passion to pen and it works erika!!

  • Erika . replied

wow, your words are so beautiful, the touch my heart. Truly they do. I will remember these words, for they describe me in a way I’ve never heard of before. Thank you my friend. And I will keep writing like a madman, (or madwoman) because it’s words like these that keep adding fuel to my passion, to my art. Thank you always. X
