Here I plant my heart’s essence: in my art, in my words, in my vision – all for you, my beautiful world. My legacy, in this beauty I create, that I wish to create. All of me in a piece of art so everyone in the world, so plain wide open eyes can see that I lived, that I felt deeply, that I laughed, that I cried, that I breathed – simply breathed, the air you breathe.
I come like I leave: a blaze of light, a comet on fire, a glimpse of sun, a hummingbird’s flight, a kiss of inspiration – catch it before it escapes you and the image will forever be burned into your heart and mind.
And I will always be alive, there, in that moment with you. I will forever live.
an old, rough self-portrait I had forgotten about. I started drawing this in Sept. of 2009 and discovered it just last week. It doesn’t look quite like me, but it was one of my first self-portraits. I decided to finish it off.

Jed! Thank you so much for your words! Yes, they are self-portraits to some extent, you’re right. But this one is special. I started doing self-portraits in July of last year, and this one was one of my first attempts. I had put it away, and abandoned the idea I first had. But it was nice to come back a year later and find it still quite alive. Something about the look in the eyes that convinced me I should finish it off. It deserved to be a proper artwork :)
ohy, yes…you do, my darling. You live in color where as almost all exist is black and white (looking at a world in which their eyes were made to see color!); the irony lost on they who cannot see. you are beautiful, and so is this. love, love, my kindred little sister. xx
