my sanity is my insanity by Erika .

my sanity is my insanity by

what if my sanity was my insanity?

what if I never made sense to a world
that has no sense of direction
because it broke its axis
ignoring the moon?

what if I let my mind go
and never bother calling it back
because I don’t understand
where the hell I’m going

what if I’m crazy
and savagely raw?

what if I’m dark
running-in-the-haunted-forest dark
wide-eyed strange?

what if I laughed like Beelzebub
and you never knew why
because you looked the other way
when I turned my mouth inside out

what if I became a wild lion
at the call of the savage sun
and you heard my heart beating faster
than the pounding of a million mustangs
tearing the earth in half?

what if I let my mind go…
and you never knew why?

and in the end
I carve up the darkness
my sanity is my insanity

This is absolutely gorgeous. There is no insanity depicted here my dear. Now I will go read the poem. Just had to comment on the image first. WOW!!!! Love it.

  • Thank you so much! I love your enthusiastic words, my friend :D xx

Beatifully written as always my dear. Now, let me tell you a secret about being insane or not being sane and I’m not trying to be funny. If find your words to take seriously. And that is that you have entered into a universe of the sanely insane where you are a planet and I am another.
I read every word and feel the same things. Sometimes I “carve up the darkness” and my husband tells me o.k. Iris, you’re starting to get that mean look again.
    I can relate.
    much love

  • Hi Iris. It’s so lovely seeing you here :)

hmm.. I know what you mean about each of us being a different planet. I think that artists are more in tune or aware of their mind’s wanderings, and feel their dark emotions more.
I sometimes become so frustrated with how people seem so mechanic about their emotions… what is normal? What dictates our heart, and is there a certain way to feel?
I am wild – my thoughts run wildly when I feel stuck or just can’t seem to find something different in life…
So this portrait is more about how I just don’t care if I don’t make sense, if I am strange, if I speak a different language and the world doesn’t understand… I have my art, and there is no right or wrong in art.
Thank you so much for your words dear Iris. xoxo
