Amor Vincit Omnia by Erika .

For my sister, Alina.

She wanted a portrait that captured her lungs as they are very significant for her (breathing problems throughout her life) and a heart expressed symbolically rather than anatomically – I instantly knew what she wanted.
I also found it significant to highlight the tattoo in her left arm, and decided to call this portrait using those words.

very anatomical and one hopes that love conquers all
a wonderful tribute to your sister erika

  • Thank you Charlie! yes, one does hope, but I think it’s more of a belief of mine now, and my sister’s too, we’ve experienced things that make us go ‘whoa, love is strong.’ I was going to get a tattoo of the same words at the same time she did, but decided to create a flower symbol for it instead (felt more personal for me) which I will tattoo on me one day :)

Powerful and Profound and Subtle and Bold. This is an amazing work of art Erika. Love this and I am sure your sister will too.

  • Anthea, your capitalization of those words add more meaning to what you are saying… I thank you always for your kind support throughout the time I’ve been on RB. Sending you a big hug. xxx

This conquered me……outstanding work Erika. I love the pose suggestive of hiding one’s face from love but never can the heart be hidden it is too rich in pure conviction me thinks…xxx

  • You know after I read your comment here, I realized I may have embedded a bit of myself in this portrait in a very subtle yet meaningful way – the way I portrayed the heart here is very much a personal touch, and what you said about love in regards to the pose in your comment just makes sense to me personally, as the pose is something I orchestrated (and felt it would suit my sister’s portrait.) But what you said resonates with me at this point in time. So thank you KarenSue, for your warm insights, always xxx

This is gorgeous and I can so identify with this piece I have Asthma pretty much all the time so this work is amazing……

  • oh wow then you must know how difficult it is to live with breathing problems. I so feel for those with this affliction, it’s not easy at all. I’m so glad you were able to relate to this in a deeper way, Renate. Thank you so much for visiting x
