Taken just after sunset, this old home has certainly seen better days, but what a great subject it makes for photographing.
The old stone foundation was settling in the back making the floor too unsafe for walking on. Holes everywhere, windows barley hanging on, and still had a few pieces of furniture left behind.
I can’t help but think how it must have looked brand new; the young couple over joyed with the prospect of raising a family in thier new home. If only we could have a climps of the past at times.
Awesome Eric!!! I saw a thumbnail and thought it looked familiar!! Great job on this shot!!!
Thanks, it’s as if you commented before I even had it posted LOL! Ann and Matt were standing along the right edge, so I had to do some PS work to take them out.
This image evokes a great sense of loss in me, mixed with a feeling of nostalgia and a yearning for days gone by. I am left wondering who lived there and what lives they led. This must have been a grand home in its day and even in its present state of decay there is a regal look about it – it still stands proud. You have chosen a great point of view to show the building off at its ‘best’ and the toning suits the subject and mood extremely well. Thought provoking and emotive work.

Wow, thanks Dennis, couldn’t have said it better myself and I appreciate the fav.
Fabulous find, Eric … this totally tickles the imagination. What a find … sooo sad that it was left to decay like this!!!
Hey Lois, I think it was a matter of self preservation, the house is slowly sinking, so I imagine the people got out while they could. Thanks so much for commenting.

Brilliant shot Eric. Such character in these old homes. Yes, I too wonder what tales these walls could tell.
