My attempt to digitally paint a monk in a style reminiscent of Van Gogh. It’s based on several photos I took in Thailand of a sculpture of a monk covered in gold leaf, and different backgrounds. There’s no magic filter button to do this, I have to set up the ground work and then do all the brush strokes individually with a tablet. And I wish it were that simple.

Aside from the impasto paint thing, I was trying to capture some of the real, for lack of a better or more convenient word, “spiritual” essence one might hope to find in places such as in South East Asia, but often may not.
