Great Photography Day by ericb

Posted on May 09, 2010

If any of you watch my work, you will have noticed a bit of a dry spell over the past few months. Work, “honey-do list”, family healyh issues, etc. have limited my time for photography fun. This past Friday, however, I broke the spell briefly.

I had hoped to take my wife out of town for the weekend, but that just didn’t work out. So on Friday morning, I got up early and went downtown (West Columbia and Columbia, SC) with my camera gear, to see what might catch my eye in the early morning hours around sunrise. I had an ejoyable time shooting a “Welcome To West Columbia” sign with water feature. ThenI caught a great view of Columbia across the river. I also decided it was time to shoot the water features in Finlay Park, something I had not done, but wanted to try. After that, I decided to pick up breakfast from Cafe Streudal to surpries Angie when I got home. The cafe didn’t open until 8:30, so while sitting in the car, I turned up the radio, opened the sun roof and started shooting the buildings nearby without even getting out of the car.

I believe the crowning glory of my photographic day was when Angie agreed to go on a day trip to Charleston with a detour to see the ruins of Old Sheldon Church. Although it was mid-day when we arrived and the sun was in full force, I believe I achieved some great shots there. I hope to return some day and take my time doing an even better job.

I have only uploaded a few of my results, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Thanks for looking.
