adjustments, etc.

Hey, everyone.

I don’t know why, but I feel compelled to write in this journal today. I haven’t touched my camera in over a week for several reasons. First off, I have been busy.

Second, I may be a bit apprehensive, subconsciously about my new glasses. I recently went for an eye exam; my first in over 22 years. The doctor confirmed what I already knew, but defined it technically for me and included a prescription for glasses. What I knew is that my uncorrected eyesight isn’t as good as it was years ago. It isn’t horrible and I am not having any trouble mentally with this fact. However, getting accustomed to wearing glasses is taking time. At 45 years old, my very first ever pair of prescription glasses (bifocals) has corrections for distant vision, near vision and astygmatism (may be spelled wrong, but you know what I mean). I actually got “seasick” during my second whole day of wearing them. I will need to play with the camera now and see whether it is better to shoot without the glasses as I have been or re-adjust the eyepiece and wear the glasses while shooting photos. The second is probably the better option since I now find my vision noticably blurry when I remove the glasses.

Well, that’s enough about that. I am looking forward to a week-long vacation near the end of August. My wife, two of our dogs and I will be spending some time at a cabin in North Carolina. We will be in the foothills, south of I-40, southeast of Mt. Mitchel and northeast of Lake Lure – not really close to anywhere. That’s the point. Angie (my wife) needs some solitude relaxation time from her stressfull job. The cabin is on 28 acres of land in the woods with a pond and stream. It should be a great time for some nature photography for me and I could use the relaxation, too. Maybe I could get some cool shots of animals drinking from the pond early in the mornings.
