recent vacation

Posted 3 months ago

Last week my wife and I enjoyed a trip toNorth Carolina to relax and unwind. We stayed at “Rocky Bottom Cabin”, a renovated horse barn. It was wonderful ine very way and I heartily recommend it. You will see some photos from the week popping up in my RB gallery, along with a few shots taken at Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain and maybe even Lake James. I didn’t see a lot of wildlife, but th…

adjustments, etc.

Hey, everyone.

I don’t know why, but I feel compelled to write in this journal today. I haven’t touched my camera in over a week for several reasons. First off, I have been busy.

Second, I may be a bit apprehensive, subconsciously about my new glasses. I recently went for an eye exam; my first in over 22 years. The doctor confirmed what I already knew, but defined it technically for me a…

New Toy

Posted 6 months ago

Not many things inspire the mind more than wanting to try out a new tool or toy. I bought my first macro lens this week and am in the process of leraning to use it. This morning I ventured out to enjoy the mid-morning sunlight with a walk around the yard. Depth of field is a whole new ballgame with this lens – fun challenge. I’ll upload a few of the good shots throughout the day.

Hey, Y'all!

I’m still alive. Sorry I’ve been so quiet. Since getting engaged last April, my life has been a whirlwind. I have still been taking photos, though, and have a few more items to upload soon.

Sorry I’ve been dormant lately. Life has been extremely busy. I also have been working on my new website www.ericb.info

I had entered “Refreshing” and “Waiting” in the South Carolina State fair. “Refreshing” was juried into the competition, but didn’t win anything. “Waiting” was juried out of the competition and sat in a store room during the fair. Oh well. Maybe thing…

Riverbanks Botanical Garden, Columbia, SC, USA

Posted over 2 years ago

Our local zoo/botanical gardens are hosting a photo competition, so I took the challenge. I visited the gardens yesterday and had a great time. I totally lost myself for about 3 hours and took over 200 pictures. The categories in the contest are, floral closeup, critters, black & white, and garden overview.

The overview thing is difficult. I just don’t think they wanted me to climb trees to…

Congaree National Park, etc.

Posted over 2 years ago

Yesterday’s goal was to come up with a photo for the contest sponsored by “Parade” Magazine which is included with our local Sunday newspaper. The theme was “Celebrate America’s Beauty” and the deadline was today. I just found the contest a week ago and didn’t really have any photos ready, so I went searching.

I decided to go to the Congaree National Park, just south of Columbia, SC, USA. I …

Stretching

Posted over 2 years ago

I just logged out of the Bubble a few minutes ago, then got an urge to write down some thoughts that are floating in my head.

RB is helping me learn about art and photography – stretching my mind, exposing me to new ideas, thoughts, images, people (and their personalities). This is wonderfull. I have never seriously exercised my mind and imagination in the ways that I have since joining RB a…
