No, not a picture of Tebow, but an American Alligator, Alligator mississippensis. This gator was about 8 feet long, but only his head pushing into the dollarweed was visible. He was waiting for his breakfast, a turtle, fish, or big frog would do. This was taken along La Chua trail at Payne’s Prairie State Preserve. Chua was the Timucuan word for a limestone sink. the ‘La’ is of course Spanish. (a reminder to anyone who would like to go see lot’s and lot’s of wild alligators, several hundred sunning along the canal bank along the way out to the observation tower.
