With most of my images taken on my little 4megapixel digi cam, they come out pretty faded. I usually just duplicate the layer then add and colour burn the layer. let me know if this makes sense or not and i can explain it better in a bubble mail ;) the other similar option is editing the levels and as always just brightness and contrast.
