Kookaburra sits on a telegraph wire
Most children who grew up in Australia during my era and earlier, remember the alternative version of the song ‘Kookaburra sits in an old gum tree’. I heard a very loud laugh outside my front door one afternoon, and look would I found on the stobie pole outside the house. Redwood Park, South Australia.
Kookaburra sits on a telegraph wire belongs to the following groups:

Thanks Marissa. I was so pleased to get a shot of them because I had been trying for a long time without success. I couldn’t beleive my luck when I heard them outside.

A version I used to sing was:
Kookaburra sits on the electric wire
Jumping up and down with his pants on fire
Fly Kookaburra, fly kookaburra or you’ll surely die
A bit morose but as kids we thought it was hilarious

Thanks Travis. I’m glad someone else remembered the song!
