My name is Ellie. I am a multi-media artist who primarily works in watercolor. I am also a photographer, a poet and a novelist.
My creative impressions are based on closely observed details and contrasts of light and dark that emphasize the design elements of the composition.
I strive to achieve a proper blending of the fine nuances of color, texture, and shape that results in an image that mirrors the subject and comfortably draws the viewer to a pleasant experience.
I was born in Puerto Rico and have traveled extensively, lived in France, Belgium, Greece, Austria and am now back in northern Virginia after 13 years abroad.
My paintings have been exhibited in the US and in Belgium and my works are included in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.
I have taught drawing and creative writing for children and adults and watercolor for adults. I served as co-President of the Springfield Art Guild in Springfield, Virginia and am a founding member and former secretary of the Brussels, Belgium art group, Art Perspectives International.
I have facilitated eight international creativity workshops using the seminal book, “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron, while I lived in Brussels, Belgium and I am starting my first American group in January 2010.
My most recent artwork include a watercolor and guache series of angels and collage pieces inspired by a trip to Morocco. I am a published poet and am editing my first novel, “In The Business of Women and Life”. I am also putting together a book of my poetry with black and white photography.
I am blessed to be able to do what I love.
