This was taken on the morning of May 10 2013 during a Annular solar eclipse which unlike a ‘Total Solar Eclipse’ doesn’t completely cover the sun and there is a ring around the moon.
Only some parts of Queensland and the Northern Territory and Northern Western Australia got to see the full ‘Ring Of Fire’ but they got a good show in Eastern Australia, unfortunately here in Perth, Western Australia we only got to see a partial eclipse as the sun was rising, the sun was bellow the horizon during the maximum part of the eclipse, and by time the sun came up, the moon was already moving out of the path of the sun and we only got the end of the eclipse in Perth.
It had been raining most of the night after a few days of stormy weather, the cloud cleared just before sunrise giving me about 30 mins of clear skies before the cloud moved back in covering up the sun just before the eclipse ended.
