Creating Text Links
To make your text clickable or link to a web address
Put quotation symbols ” ” on each side of the word/sentence you want to make Clickable and then a Colon : (no spaces), Now put the url (web address) of where you want the clicker to go.
EXAMPLE: "View My Gallery":http//example.redbubble.com
Will give you this View My Gallery
You can also make a Text box appear when hovering over the link by adding text in brackets
Like this "View My Gallery(Go to My Gallery)":http//example.redbubble.com
The text above in ( ) will appear in a box if someone hovers over the link
Like this ( put your mouse over the link but do not click it )
View My Gallery
To use formatting with your text link. Add a space between the formatting symbols and the "
EXAMPLE: "Space*View My Gallery*space":http//example.redbubble.com
will give you this
" View My Gallery ":http//example.redbubble.com
h1. Using Product previews Framed Prints, Cards…etc*
First you must know where the image is located (web address)
Example: http://www.mypicture is here.jpg
To use a framed, laminated print, card etc.. image from redbubble click the “show public view” in your “Art” section
then click the “Buy/Preview” Button
Set the image as you wish to use it, Card, Framed print etc…once you are done follow the instructions below to get the web address
![]() | If using firefox simply right click the image and select “copy image location” |
| Using Internet explorer right click the image then select “Properties” | ![]() |
| A Properties box will appear copy the Address(URL) High lighted in blue “right click” the Highlighted text then choose “copy” or once it is highlighted hold the “control(CTRL)” key and press “C” | ![]() |
Mac users hold the CTRL or Apple key and then click image to get the menu
You can now paste the image location where you want to use it (right click and select “paste” or hold the Control key and press “V” on your key board) Now put a ! before an after the image location like this !http://www.mypicture is here.jpg!
To make it clickable or linked add the colon : and web address after the !
like this :http://www.your going here.com
The final entry Will look like below
!http://www.mypicture is here.jpg!:http://www.your going here.com
The text box mentioned above can be used here as well by adding your text in ( )
Like This !http://www.mypicture is here.jpg(Have a Look)!:http://www.your going here.com
Will give you this ( Put your mouse over my avatar image below but do not click to see )![]()
| For using different Product Preview sizes See this Journal Using Small Product Preview | ![]() |
Using Just the Image
To use only the image go to you art section by clicking “My Bubble” then “art”
on you art page find the image you want to use and get the image address or URL as described above
EXAMPLES
Current web addresses (URL) used by redbubble
http://ih1.redbubble.net/work.4484135.1.flat,60...
![]() | = | !http://ih1.redbubble.net/work.4484135.1.flat,60×60,075,t.jpg! |
You can change the size of the image
by replacing the 60×60 in the above
example to one of the values shown on the right.
(Click the links for a preview of the size cropped version )
60X60
100X100
135X135
215X200
300X300
450X300
550X550
800X800 watermarked
Cropped Version![]() Not Cropped ![]() | You can change the t.jpg to f.jpg the image address to add or remove the cropping of your image. Note the sizes may vary depending on your image shape these are both 60×60. |
_You can skip this section unless you need to modify or fix an old link that you created usin the OLD URL’s which look like the Example below.
http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/s...
![]() | = | !http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/s...; |
Using the old URL change the size of the image by replacing the size:xsmall to one of the values shown on the right.
(Click the links for a preview of the size cropped version )
xsmall = 60px × 60px
small = 135px × 135px
xmedium = 200px × 200px
medium = 300px × 300px
large = 550px × 550px
xlarge = 663px × 663px watermarked to use this one you need to remove the /cropped from the image URL
Cropped Version![]() Not Cropped ![]() | You can also remove cropped/ from the image address to maintain the shape of your image. Note the sizes may vary depending on your image shape. |
To create a Larger preview link use some text or an image and link it to the xlarge view.
Here is an Image Example be sure to remove the /cropped from the xlarge view
| How it works Click the image to see | The text or code I used |
![]() | !http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/s... Larger image)!:http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xlar... |
To create a large product preview add /pixelsize:875×440 as shown below
Click here to see BEFORE and AFTER
EXAMPLE (laminated print) URL: http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/backgroun...
Click Here to preview larger size
Link to a large preview
To create a Larger preview link use some text or an image and link it to the 800X800 web address of the image or any other size listed above.
Here is an Image Example be sure that you change the .t.jpg to .f.jpeg
so your image will not be cropped.
| How it works | The text I used |
![]() | !http://ih2.redbubble.net/work.4484135.1.flat,60... Larger image)!:http://ih2.redbubble.net/work.4484135.1.flat,80... |

Thanks so much, the instructions were so easy to follow, well explained!! I do have one question though, I’ve noticed that some people have added pictures to their description that are on an angle, do you know how to do this?
D R Moore:
Those images were most likely created using Photo software,

using 2 layers,1 for the background and 1 for the image with the background image larger than the image to be rotated “Rotate the image layer” flatten image upload to RB and use the link to that image.I made one awhile ago

Thank you for this tutorial! Till now I always found the same stuff I knew already, but never got answers to my questions; here it goes a bit further. Does this markup language have a name? Can I find the complete instructions somewhere on the web?

I believe it is called textile, but not all of it is accepted on redbubble.
For my redbubble tutorials I used this site here mostly for reference. I’ve been through all the different formatting listed there to create the two tutorials that are about formatting on RB.

Hi, I’m not finding it easy at all! Sorry, maybe you can help me, I would like to add a Framed print image of The Fairy – Too Cold For A Dip Today.
I have this as the URL from clicking Properties – http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/framecolo...
Now what? This does not seem to represent what you have written above in this part:
You can now paste the image location in the location where you want to use it (right click and select “paste” or hold the Control key and press “V” on your key board) Now put a ! before an after the image location like this !http://www.mypicture is here.jpg!
To make it clickable or linked add the colon : and web address after the !
like this :http://www.your going here.com
The final entry Will look like below
!http://www.mypicture is here.jpg!:http://www.your going here.com
How does www.mypictureishere.com equate with http://images-2redbubble etc
The www is throwing me off.
Can you help me and tell me what to write!? Please.

I sort of got the links down pat, is there a way to align small images similar to the 9 square view on your profile page? I would like to have these aligned and with the title of sets underneath the image. Or is this not possible(click and have a look at my profile and you’ll see what I mean).
Thanks for taking the time to write these things and for the link for wise stamp to.

Neat tutorial, understand it perfectly but ….
when creating a link to another URL can you make it come up as a new tab in your browser?
D R Moore:
Thanks…..
The only way I know a new tab can be used is if the person clicking the link holds the control(CTRL) key.
Chris Nies
Thanks for that, it does work, was hoping there was something that could be put in the code with the link but for now I’ll hold the control key. Thanks again.

Hi I appear to have stupidly erased the ’add to watchlist ’ link on my profile so no one can add me to their watch list anymore. Is there a way to get it back? or have i cocked it up for good LOL. heres hoping you can help me. thanks Lindsay

I can’t figure this out; maybe I’m on the wrong tutorial. I’m using Safari. What I want to do is have a grid of little square images on my profile, each one clickable to go to the image in my gallery. I’m able to add an image of a greeting card, etc. but when I follow your instructions to add just an image, I never get a URL that includes a size, as you show: EXAMPLE http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/s...
D R Moore:
Hi Colleen to get the URL for your images go to your “Art” page and right click the images you want to use from that page….Click Here to go there Now then follow the instructions above to send the person clicking the page you want them to go to…
Hope that helps

May I ask you one question?
How do you do those thick lines to separate the text blocks? I’ve had a look on the website code but it only says <hr> where the line should be. I wanted to try that on my profile but it didn’t work.
Could you please let me know how you did those lines? That would be really kind of you! Thanks!
D R Moore:
Hi Kathrin that part is included in one of my other Tutorials
TUTORIAL-Working with text [Formatting]
to do it you use 3 * with a blank line above and below the 3 * and that will give you a line across the page.
Hope that helps
Dan

Hi Dave,
Great tutorial but I’m having trouble making the Visit My Gallery link. I’ve tried both versions in your tutorial but when I test them I get the Redbubble “This page is not available” message. Any suggestions?
Maggie.
D R Moore:
The code below is what you want to use if it is not working try erasing the " and replacing them with a new one sounds funny but it has worked for others in the past.
"Visit my gallery":http://www.redbubble.com/people/mhegarty
Below is what the link will look like…
Visit my gallery
Maggie Hegarty
Thank you for your quick reply Dan, I tried your suggestions, but it’s still not working.
What I’m trying to do is edit my public view to direct viewers to my bubblesite – so I was typing Visit my gallery Is that correct? I probably should be using the word bubblesite, not gallery, but the words aren’t the problem it’s the code that I’m messing up. Visit my bubblesite appears on my public view underlined and clickable, but doesn’t open my bubblesite.
D R Moore:
Thank you for directing me to the problem….I checked it out and see that you have used http://www.redbubble.com/people/http//.mhegarty...
and your bubblesite address is http://mhegarty.redbubble.com and of coarse you can change the text to ‘See my Bubblesite here’ or whatever you wish so with all that said your code should look like this
"See my Bubblesite here":http://mhegarty.redbubble.com
Hope that helps

I tried creating a text link on my Mac and didn’t work. Does it work differently for Mac? Thanks.
D R Moore:
not that I am aware of …try retyping the " sounds funny but it has worked in the past
DareImagesArt
I’m on mac as well, got as far as copying the location onto main page, but when you view your site, all that appears at the bottom of “about me” is the little blue square icon with a question mark inside.
So, can anybody please help with information relevant to macs??
DareImagesArt
OK, I worked it out, got to your art page
Hold control down, click on image to be transported, go to “copy the address” ??.
Then go to edit your profile.
Put in a colon at the end of the text you have already written , looks like this : , then paste the copied address in to where your description of yourself is, after the colon.
Once address appears, place an exclamation mark at the beginning and the end of the address (no spaces), and it should work.
Took a while to figure out, but once you do it the first time, it is a piece of cake!!! good luck Alex

Hi Dan,
Firstly, thanks for all of your useful tips and ideas for spicing up our profiles. Appreciated :))
Next, I am having some troubles with the “Bullets” within my pages.
Firstly, on my main profile page HERE, if you look where the “Copyright Information” reads, the text is smaller than it should be, at least that is what I am seeing. How do I fix this (if known)?
I did remove all other coding (Bold etc) to check if that was causing a conflict, but it remained the same :((
Also a problem on my image pages, when I add the groups it was featured in, I also use the “Bullet” option, but they (the text I mean) appear “larger” than normal, pretty much twice the size as it should be :((
Please let me know if you would like to see what I mean and I shall add it to one of my pages for you :))
Thanks again Dan for your continued info and tuts for us.
D R Moore:
The only way I know how to fix this is by using the windows ‘character map’
see here how to use it you can select from a variety of symbols etc one even looks like the bullet mark see ■

Hi Dan,
I also want to thank you for your useful tips. But I have found something that I haven´t seen before.
I want some buttons on my frontpage and that have not been a problem before. I have a lots of smaller picture uploaded that I have used. But now when I tried to upload a 135×35 png button with text on, I can´t copy the address as I used to. That small picture went very large on my frontpage. And very blurry too because it was so much enlarge. The picture address is not like these I had before. The address ended with …. flat,550×550,075,f.jpg but it was a png I uploaded and it was in 135×35 pixels :( How is this happen?
Isi me that do something wrong or is it the Redbubble system?
Feel free to contact me if you want me to put it on the frontpage so that you could see it.
Best Regards Mariana
D R Moore:
You can change the end of that code where is has 550×550 change it to 135×135
and that will fix your size issue…..I also sent you a bmail
MarianaEwa
Thank you very much. I have fixed it :D . I tried with 135×35 and that was not good but when I saw 135×135 this I understand the whole thing. It worked perfect. I fax a coffee anyway :))) You could ignore the BM´s.

I’ve been trying to put images in posts but when I go to the image to get the URL it comes up with this:
http://www.redbubble.com/images/clear.gif
I guess this is the copy-protect I’ve chosen, but I can’t disable it for just one image.
Nothing like the examples of addresses I’ve seen here.
What do I do now?
The image I was trying to show is public view but not for sale as such.

Marjolein Katsma
I’ve been using title text for ages (all my preview images have it!).
One problem with this option (the title text in brackets) is when you actually want something in brackets at the end of your link text to be come part of the link text. The workaround is (in general) to replace a character that RedBubble wants to interpret as markup with its HTML entity equivalent – that way RedBubble no longer sees it as markup, but just displays it as a character.
Example:
With title text:
“This will give you a title(My profile)”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/marjoleink
Result:
This will give you a title (hover mouse over the link to see the title text)
Text in brackets at the end:
“This will give you text in brackets at the end (My trick)”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/marjoleink
Result:
This will give you text in brackets at the end (My trick) (hover mouse over the link: no title!)
Here ( is the code that produces an ‘open bracket’ – it works, because RedBubble sees it as ‘just text’, not ‘syntax’. 40 is the decimal ASCII code for ‘open bracket’. Here’s a handy web page that lists all the ASCII codes – the ‘Chr’ column shows the character to display, the ‘Html’ column shows the code to display it (matching the decimal value shown in the ‘Dec’ column.
This works for any character that RedBubble would otherwise interpret as ‘syntax’.
Note: you can use the same trick to show RedBubble code examples without the dratted ‘remove the spaces’ :)

Hi Dan,
I know you have covered this already but am being a thickie… I would like to have a grid of thumbnails on my profile, each one linked to the image in my gallery. I am able to add the thumbnail but when I click on it, it just opens the image in a bigger window (i.e. as a gif file) and not in RedBubble. (Will leave the example on my profile). So it looks like I have got the " !http://www.mypicture is here.jpg! " right, but not the " :http://www.your going here.com ". What am I doing wrong?
Thank you!

Just wanted to thankyou for your helpful detailed instructions, they are very much appreciated. I do have one question. I noticed that some bubblers have detailed closeups of some of their work is there a trick to that or do we need to post another separate close up image of our work as another work to view?
D R Moore:
They are separate images uploaded to redbubble and the box next to ‘hide from public view’ is selected these images can still be posted using the methods above…or you can upload them to any image hosting site like flickr, photobucket, and picasa web albums and post the image in the description using the two !! before and after the image address..
