As The Doctor says… There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes.
Doctor Who adores planet Earth and finds it handy to stop by Cardiff to refuel at the natural rift there. But it seems to me that he also refuels himself here, especially at Christmas time. When this famous fictional character is at his lowest, that’s when he sets his TARDIS towards Christmas on Earth.
More so than we ordinary humans, The Doctor needs to wipe away the hurt, disappointments, bitterness, sorrow, and raging anger that accumulates during his travels and trials. An excellent example of Raven energy, The Doctor finds peace and renewal simply by seeing us go about our daily lives during this special season… and we do too.
Savoring the brief shiny moments filled with humor, love or joy should be a priority every day, but many people find it easiest to soak such moments in when there is a focus, like a holiday. We should try to remember every day that taking the time for small seemingly unimportant actions might be the only thing that saves us on some dark day in the future. Little silly moments, like making a TARDIS out of gingerbread, are sometimes the most important tasks we can undertake. And the best thing about a gingerbread TARDIS? … It’s bigger on the inside!
