Great picture! My dad has similar friends in his shed that he feeds occasionally too. I love how comfortable he looks. He’s found a lovely home for himself!
Thanks for your input Sally. If you click on the link in my reply to Pat (immediately above your message) there is a cheekier shot of Herbert when he was younger.
Oh dear…it seems I spoke too soon about not having cats around…They should not be out at night anywhere, let alone in the bush…In fact, I believe they should be contained in an outside enclosure with access to inside at all times…I used to have a lovely little group of semi-tame possums, who would come right up to me for snacks…but most of them disappeared around the time new people with cats moved in down the road.!…Poor Herbert looks quite exhausted, and a little worse for ware…I do hope he recovered well and manages to avoid any more skirmishes with predators….He looks like such a character. :))
For the last year I have had a tenant with a small dog renting that part of my house. Soon after she moved in Herbert disappeared again and for a while he took up residence in an inaccessible (to me) hidy-hole at the other end of the house. However I haven’t heard him recently but there is plenty of natural habitat around my house so hopefully he has found a comfy tree house.

aw, he does look a little war-weary the poor little bloke…i really hope he’s okay…do you think he is? he looks a bit crook?
I had just woken him up to give him a piece of apple and he was still a little bleary-eyed. Check out the front paw. Doesn’t look too great.

I think he may be older than I originally thought.

Hi Pat, thanks for all your input on my other pages. He’s an Australian Brush-tailed Possum. There’s another shot of him in his Gladstone bag “Here”.http://www.redbubble.com/people/enpassant/art/...

Very touching EnPassant!! They are mischevious creatures aren’t they! Love the way you’ve followed the story through with pictures for us!

I’m so glad he has a place to hang out and beg or a little apple. The squirrels are at the cats’ mercy here.
Found his permanent home?
I would like to know too Tokiko.
