I was out walking in the fog and came across this creature, who stopped and watched me for a while and then decided to show me how well she could leap.

Mid North South Australia.

australia, kangaroos, marsupials, australian native animal

I live in the Australian countryside with my animals. Together we explore the land around us and their connection with the world helps me to see what I would otherwise be blind to. They are my teachers.

My aim is to convey this other way of seeing through my photography.

    Too funny! Great catch.
Glad she didn’t decide to show you how well she could box…. :)

  • Kangaroos will only box a human generally, if they have been cornered – and I certainly wouldn’t ever want to do that!

  • Thanks very much – I think my earlier training taking pics of horses jumping may have helped!

Wow, great capture! No fences or boundaries for her (him?)!

  • The ordinary farm fences offer no resistance to a roo, although they will also sometimes wriggle underneath too.

Perfect timing! Love the fence line!

  • Thanks Helen – that fence is probably nearly as old as Adam!

Wonderful softness in this photo, is it, or was it the fog? Love the whole colouring tones, and the Kangaroo is just perfectly placed. Clever you…. I am wondering, did any of the mob see this? LOL …don’t try this guys that fence looks uncomfortable if not jumped properly. It doesn’t apply to the pusses….of course.

  • You’re right about the softness Gini – it was a combination of camera setting and the fog. The er….small member of the Mob was securely tied to me after his earlier misdeeds! This roo actually hopped towards us as it probably hadn’t seen cats out with an upright form before and wanted a better look! The boys walked a long way in long wet grass….and not a complaint at all!

    What an incredible capture.

  • Thanks Rochelle. The more time spent outdoors the greater chance of the luck in getting shots like this:-)
