It’s peony time and I love peonies. They are such voluptuous, romantic, soft and fragrant flowers. What’s not to love? Only the fact they don’t stay in bloom long enough.
Here’s a tip to have peonies later in the summer. Cut the buds as they are big and starting to show color. Put them in a tall pictcher or vase with water and place in the refrigerator for up to at least several weeks. I think some people recommend wrapping the bunch in newspaper and then placing them in the vase. Pull them out when you want them to open and voila! I did this for my daughter’s wedding which took place at least a month after the peonies bloom time. They opened in about 24 hours.
