I wonder

if this is how it felt hundreds of years ago

when I waited high in the castle
for some message from my Shiny Knight
how it would find it’s way to my hands
despite the dark nights on the long road,
through dangerous obstacles
intrigue perhaps
even moments of sabotage,

it surely comes
there is a small knock on the chamber door

late in the night just as I toss in bed unable to sleep……..

Such was his desire,
that he let himself open into every word
he wrote

each dip into the ink made the mark
of his heart beating closer
and when the message was finally delivered

she would read each syallable slowly
as if to taste the emotion like
the sweetest dish ever offered,
and know that he would come for her

that the new day would bring his face to hers
his embrace and his promise to stay ……….

but just for today
she is happy to read his email
