Appearances, Seperation and Unity.

The following piece of writing was given out at the June 13 workshop. Thought it may be of some use to others here on redbubble.

Appearances, Seperation and Unity. belongs to the following groups:

Empowered Beauty Workshops and Melbourne & Victoria

PHILOSOPHY; I think almost everyone worries about appearances at some level. I think that humans are so concerned about how they look in physical appearance, actions and emotions. In many instances this creates very self absorbed people. One of the major intents of these workshops is to bring awareness to this addiction to appearances.

Self absorption leads to competition and exclusion. It is very hard for people to feel composed in an environment where the majority are self absorbed in competing for the best appearances. I believe that when a person is self absorbed in how they appear that their appearance in all aspects of output is lessened. This includes their looks, their actions and their inner emotional state.

Further the more a person worries about appearances the more likely they are to become robotic and desensitised to real enjoyment. In my opinion enjoyment should be the no 1 priority for any living being. To this end we should do all we can to free ourselves from the need to place importance on how we compare or shape up to others. Everyone and everything exchanges energy through how we are feeling and thinking inside. Therefore if one in your environment is not happy your joy is also being lessened.

So for these workshops I am asking people to place transparency and humility and awareness as a priority. To not be concerned about how others are viewing them but to instead place their own joy and the joy of others no1. To go deep enough into awareness to realise that we all have insecurities and fears of how others perceive us. I believe that if we can collectively go to a deeper level of awareness and intent that we will get fantastic results on all levels.

DIRECTION / SCULPTING; A model cannot see the scene from your perspective. They cannot see how the light is falling on their bodies and cannot see the angle the camera is seeing. As such it is important that the photographer communicated calmly with the model. Further that the model communicates calmly with the photographer. I believe that open communication and aware direction creates photographs that exude magic. I will today instruct on various ways to direct both the physical aesthetic and emotions of the subject.

SHOT INTEGRITY; I believe that shots should exude freedom and humility and respect for the beauty of the human form and spirit. To this end it is so important that poses and expressions project style, passion and grace. Further I believe that the most empowering shots are those where the subject looks real and unaware to the presence of a camera.

IN THE MOMENT; I believe that the more relaxed and in the moment people are the more connection they have to their intuition or higher self. This person will be more likely to direct the model into her most beautiful angles and moods. Further a photographer who is in the moment will more easily flow with their use of camera tilts, crops ect..

SHOT USEAGE/ RESPONSIBILITIES; Photos taken today can be used in your hard copy or online portfolios. They cannot be placed for sale. You can contact the model via me if you have a sales request. Further could each photographer please provide a disk of high res jpeg images to me to be passed on to the model. I would also greatly appreciate a link to either my www.leapoffaith.com.au website or to the Empowered Beauty Workshop group on Redbubble.

Yes. It is so refreshing to hear of someone working in an industry that can be very superficial at times discern what is truly beautiful. It is true that we shine when the ego is not as present, when we are totally absorbed in something we enjoy and this leaves no trace. You really give the reader, or the workshop participant, something to aspire to here Tony.
