A brightly coloured Sundog (or Mock Sun, or Parhelion). The arc intersecting the Sundog is the less often seen ‘Parhelic Circle’ which can in ideal conditions encircle the horizon 360 deg. On this occasion in March 2003 it encompassed about 180 deg. The more regularly observed ‘Solar Halo’ can also be seen encircling the sun to the left.
