"Monster Buck!" Featured in Rural Around the Globe!
BIG thanks to BIG D for featuring my photo of a 12 point white-tailed buck. Yes folks its true… I do on occasion actually take photographs vs. just loading my daughter’s work – ha!
The story on this guy is kinda sad. We watched him grow up (a herd travels through our land quite regularly). I didn’t see “Big Boy” (ok, that snappy name was NOT my idea) since the rut (fall). I found out later that someone came on the property and poached him AND many of the other large bucks in the area. The poacher was caught, fined and had to turn in his “trophy” head, but it made me sick to think I’d never get to see him again.
The happy news is that Big Boy’s son survived the slaughter and I saw him the other day sporting a nice 10 point rack dressed in velvet. Another year of growing and he’ll match what his daddy was.
Keepin’ my fingers crossed he survives hunting season!
Thanks again to Rural Around the Globe for the feature!

awww..thats is so sad. My husband hunts,in season of course, and he knows that I HATE it. People who hunt because they need the meat to eat,I understand. But,people who hunt to hang their trophy on the wall…..well makes me sick. Sorry, kinda went off there! CONGRATS on your wonderful feature.

I just hate what some people CALL hunting. Feed them every day then, one morning go out and blow them away. Its like killing a cow. This big boy was as sweet as they come. There wasn’t any “sport” in his killing. Now, bow and arrow and tracking them through the woods is a little more fair! (not that I would do it!)
