Come Home Safe

I haven’t been called to the “sand box” yet, but I have plenty of Army buddies that have. Keep your heads down, guys! Come home safely.

Love the image. it says so much. I hae a sister in the military and she has been over ther 3 times. Love the brightness of the flag compared to all the other coloring in the pic.

  • EmmaLeigh

    EmmaLeigh, about 1 year ago

Thanks, Aubrey! I can’t decide, though… would it have looked better if I had put the flag straight across vice crooked? I’m kinda new to still life photography, so feel free to make suggestions! By the way, thank your sister for me! God bless her.

Thanks, Boretti! Coming from you that is quite a compliment – I’ve been impressed with your work. I’ll pass your comment on to my daughter – she sweated on this one (over 100 degrees, full sun that day!). Thanks!

It may be a little cheesy of me, but this brings tears to my eyes. It is truely touching and slightly personal for me. My father is a Vietnam vet. Though he is not a part of this war, it still brings back memories for him. Thank you for sharing this beautiful photo with us.

  • EmmaLeigh

    EmmaLeigh, about 1 year ago

Wow! Thanks for writing such a wonderful comment! Its very personal to us too since I am in the Army. Please thank your father for his service in Vietnam. He never enjoyed the civilian support like our troops generally do now – I can only imagine what he went through. He has my respect.

I love this. It says so much. I’d like to get a T-Shirt with your design and put the words
    AMERICA
    HOME OF THE FREE
    BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE

How much would this cost and can you do it?

  • EmmaLeigh

I haven’t explored shirts – let me check into it. Give me a few days to get some prices. Thanks!

Thanks Madison! It has done well in the contests my daughter has entered it, but hasn’t gotten the Best of Show title as her “Japanese Garden” and “Inspiration” have so far. Hmmmmm. Well, we like it nonetheless!

Guys! Thanks so much! I can only hope their efforts are not forgotten. As I sit in my comfortable chair, playing a card game with my kids in my air-conditioned home after eating a wonderful home-cooked meal… I often think about the hardships our soldiers face. No such luxuries for them. God, bring them home safely!

Thank you for adding this to RB. It’s a great photo with much meaning and I’m so glad RB put it on the HP for Memorial weekend. They are in our thoughts and prayers now and as long as they are not at home with us. We are thinking of them especially this Memorial weekend. My cousin fought in Gulf. My other cousin is in Iraq now rebuilding. My brother-in-law’s son died 3 years ago in Afghanastan by “friendly” fire. Oh how I wish they all, every US man and woman soldier, could be home. We love and support you for all that you do and have done for us.

  • Lori Peters

I have seen this all too often. We have Ft. Carson, the mountain post, nearby. We have lost hundreds to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was in the military and served in a combat group-unusual for women at that time. I have seen the pain the families have to endure. You have made a beautiful monument to all those who gave everything. Thank you!

... or don’t go there in the first place.
Sorry, but this war was completely wrong from the very beginning.

  • EmmaLeigh

    EmmaLeigh, 4 months ago

Thank you, Marie! I pray for their safe return!

  • EmmaLeigh

    EmmaLeigh, 4 months ago

BrainCandy, I’m a little concerned that there are people like you out there that WOULDN’T wish someone to come home safely from a dangerous place, regardless of your personal feelings about the war. Try to put aside your issues with decision makers, and try a little compassion to those following orders. None of us “signed up” to get killed, we volunteered our services to our country in whatever capacity deemed appropriate. I’m know your soldiers in Australia don’t have the luxury of deciding which conflict they will participate in and which they will not. Ours is no different.

  • EmmaLeigh

    EmmaLeigh, 4 months ago

Jenndes, I appreciate your comment immensely. Please tell all in your family “thank you” for their service. Especially your brother-in-law’s son who made the ultimate sacrifice. I know this holiday will be hard for him.

Thanks ltruskett! I agree…. regardless of whether or not people believe the war is right, it is imperative to support those serving. Your comment was very appreciated!
