Lined with guilt and the faintness
of melancholy, Blood collected around our feet.
The deepening pools of scarlet shades
Bore her unknown depths
Without apology.
You brushed the droplets aside,
Smearing the redness over your lips
And your eyes met mine.
I think about you.
In changing colours of each
Evening sky
The ash falls around me.
Gray and dark and particles
Smudging my brow.
I remember you.
Like a sweeping fire
Scorching all traces of past faces
and footprints falling into deepening layers of ash.
I see you.
