I went to Tanzania in the summer of 2008 to volunteer, and our group stayed in a village called Kihrua Lasso, near Mount Kilimanjaro.

We joined the local community on Sunday, walking to the nearby stone cathedral where they worship every week. While waiting outside, I saw this plant where people had seemed to leave little offerings – someone had taken nearby blossoms and laid them in the leaves of this green stalk.

Sharing and selling my photography is a joy I’ve discovered recently, rousing through pictorial highlights and making them more than what they are, so that they can be closer to what they were. Then letting it out so that it can capture someone’s eye the way it once caught me. It’s equal parts shaping and sharing that makes the process worthwhile.
