The news crews are showing footage and sharing stories both around Australia and Overseas of the horrific floods inundating houses, businesses, blocks and entire suburbs. Houses, car, possessions, animals and people are missing and dead.
Many thousands of people are camped up emegency service centres awaiting some relief. I currently live in one of the more fortunate areas of Brisbane who have remained mostly unaffected by these floods! However so many people are looking at having to start again, a daunting and emotional time.
Animal refuges have been flooded out, many shelters will not accept families pets and the power outages are spreading rapidly across the country. You can make general donations through the The Queensland Government http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html
During this time it is easy to forget the dogs, cats, cows, sheep and other family pets and loved ones.
Dogs Queensland are setting up fundraising to assist their members and they have opened an account to take donations accessible via http://www.dogsqld.com.au/News.aspx?id=272
The RSPCA shelters in Dakabin, Toowoomba & Gympie are closed due to flooding, many more have been evacuated. Many animals need food transported to them (a huge outlay cost) details can be found at https://donate.rspcaqld.org.au/flood where you can also donate to these flood victims.
I am writing to the Redbubble Community as a concerned Queenslander who is pleading for anyone and everyone out there to assist these people and their pets in this time of crisis. Any assistance you can be – would be much appreciated by these people and their pets and livestock. Every dollar counts.

Good on ya for posting this Emma. there is so many out there that need help, shelter and general care. I was helping with the clean up yesterday – it’s such a shocking mess and especially pertinent when you come across dead animals covered in sludge. It really brings home the reality and impact of it all.
Emma Hardcastle:
Thats wonderful that you got out and helped – I did the same on Saturday. It is a horrible mess and the footage on the news doesn’t prepare you for the reality of each situation – the smell, death and destruction! Thanks for commenting – I just thought that maybe the more forums we could reach people the better.

Such a disaster , my heart goes out to you all.
Emma Hardcastle:
