Ondine
A child of the sea, without a soul and forever a child/fish.
I am curious about the ocean, about the human connection with the sea through evolution. All these dreams, myths and faerytales hint at something much more deeper.
When I swim in the ocean there is a hypnotic silence that complements the raw, wild power of the wind and water.
Although my heart beats rapidly I feel the silence and it’s familiar calming. Despite a gentle yet insistent reminder from my lungs that I need to breathe air, I feel the pull of the ocean.
*I’m experimenting with backgrounds, I’m starting to feel I should move forward with my pencil drawings, imbue some emotion with colour/fabric/textute etc. Any sugguestions would be welcome.

This is wonderful! If you’re looking for backgrounds I can recommend a freeware programme called Apophysis. It’s excellent – I use it for all my backgrounds.

Or do what I try to do and alternate. In the hopes that it will prevent me stagnating, I try to alternate between pencils, ink, watercolour, gouache, acrylics and (rarely) oils.

I like this work very much. In my opinion, the textures and patterns compliment each other very well.
The colour and shading of this image add to the mystical feel of the piece and echo many aspects of the mysterious sea world it portrays.
I share your facination with the sea and so can relate to what you’re saying through this piece.
I really enjoyed looking at this.
Kind regards- Charles
