Ode To The Fire

O, the passion fades
Like the life from my sweet Selena’s eyes
A morgue temptress to suck the soul
Straight from the pen that quills these ills
A mark of Cain cursed
Upon my lips when she came
Vehemently as her nails tore flesh
Masochist in those days
A flagrant passing
Hunger inviting
Hatred enlightening
Thor’s hammer and wrought lightning
A pillar of darkness that shined brightly
In the fires that burned nightly

O, to the woes that persisted
Caused a cyst to where the heart beat
A clot that stopped the raw feed
No blood left in the vein tap
No love nor lust
Emotionless and tapped
Cold and grayed like death had settled
Endless nights awake and dazed
Confused to whom I’d belong
Until I broke her skin
Breaking her down within
I was a sadist in those nights-
A serpent’s tongue
Black pharaoh on the midst
Drinking sorrow
Singing with the mourning trumpets
A vagrant whore
Incubus seeking more
Insatiable bastard of the left hand path
Yet in the deepest void a light
The fire of fury

O, alas the ice had come
Encasing my heart and soul
My kingdom done
All words unsaid and from
The death spells of Babylon
I reached to the stars
Chapped lips cracking to bleed
A scream for these words not expressed
To pen their crafted zest
Unto the memoirs of bitter days
Where my Satanic heart reigned
Where now the angels weep their salted rains
And I cease to care a wondering thrill
A fire exhausted, a man unraveled
Tamed by defeat
Shamed by any language
Abhorred in heaven’s high
I pen for the nights the fire pyre burnt the sky

Ode To The Fire by

This piece, delicately designed to show my decline in having a muse, and how it was easier when my life was more….chaotic to be creative and expressive.
