Each day brings innovation and invention, as well as further destruction and degradation, of both society and the world we live in. Man makes technological advances in leaps and bounds, yet still cannot pull free of the ties that bind him: his flaws and base nature. War and poverty chain us to our past, our memories are like ropes that hold us back, restricting our growth as a people. If we are to reclaim ourselves, our souls and society, from the damage we have caused and continue to cause, we must look to the youth.
Why? Why should we?
What reason do we have to put our trust, our faith, our lives, in the hands of the unborn? It is the children of men who will grow up to be the future murderers, despots and tyrants of the world. It is they who will subjugate and enslave our mothers and sisters, and too our sons.
The reason why -
We have to. We quite simply have no other choice. There is no one else we can put our trust in. The youth are all we have. And, we must not forget, it is they who will grow up to be the men we look up to, not simply those we fear, or heap scorn upon. We must accept the inevitability of imperfection, but we must take the good with the bad. We have no other choice.
Our actions now will shape the actions of generations to come. If we want a better future for our children, we must start by making a better present.
While we cannot change the past that was,
we can change the past that will be.

Youth is our future of tomorrow unfortunately at the moment Youth live in the past we need to give them more responsibilities for themselves more Youth Clubs, more sport, more art, more music, and a purpose so they can project the next 50 years into the future. Brilliantly written my friend and so close to the truth too – David

I do see much hope in the youth of today…....there is something special about many and my hope is they will teach many as well. And yes we as a collective need to stand together with the same vision….....with more people being able to access information like the world web…..there is I think great hope for the teaching of a better awareness. Excellent piece from you…..as always X

I agree….and I’ve said so many times before to many people: I believe in younger generations...and there are many reasons why I do. (but I’ll end up writing an essay if I write them down) This just give me more fuel to want to fulfill my ambition, which I’m starting to believe in more and more, everytime I write about it and speak about it. I have to do something, gotta “walk the talk,” and this piece you’ve written, well, just perfectly lays it out for me. Brilliantly written, my friend. I bet you’ll get a good grade on it too. ;)
By the way, “Afrikaans”- I have yet to see how that looks like. :)

The youth of today are still youths at 20. Very few graps the opportunity to change the world in a possitive way. My children are not cossited or cushioned from life but still remain detacted from the feeling of power that they hold. Our failing is to entend their childhood into early 20’s.
They have the world to shape as they wish and they play with games.
sorry, must calm down!
