Deicide

a god dies
today
He is as dust
in the wind

it’s a faith-eat-faith world
and none are spared

doctrine and dogma
are cannibalized
recombined
reabsorbed
recycled religion

cast down
is the trident
the lightning
the Pantheon
is fallen
from Olympus’
snow-clad slopes
fallen from the minds
of the people

hollow bells toll
sepulchral silences
in the once-hallows
of cold halls
where hollow men
once gathered
in somber Sacrament
where eternal flames
cease to burn
in perpetual
light-giving

Babylon is fallen

and from the smoking ashes
shall arise a new faith

....and this is why you caught my eye the first time around….your way of thinking. I love this.

I’m glad I could catch your eye, my friend. For you are the inspiration, the muse and the light. From the smoking ashes my creativity has arisen. Thanks to you.

Yes the cycle keeps repeating my friend, albeit with variations on a theme.Yet each claims to be true and divine and many gather myriad devotees. I think the need for this is a very “Human” thing…........

  • Jordan Busson replied

Indeed, my friend. It is our stories that make us human. Anthropomorphism has not changed, merely the divine manifestations. Anthropogenic theogenesis, really.
