Eden Marred

The stain of xenophobia has marred the Eden our fathers fought to build. While the blood of innocents still lies fresh on our hands, and the cries of the bereaved still echo in our souls, we cannot declare ourselves free. We are not true Africans, we are not men, when we have let such horrors occur unchecked in our land.

We cannot call ourselves free, when we have bound and gagged our own hands and mouths with our indifference. We cannot call ourselves free, when each vote in the ballot box condemns us to further failure.

No.
We are not free.

We had a dream.
But through our actions and inaction, it has become a nightmare.
And our time is running out.

It is time for change.

I cannot begin to imagine what it really means to live like this – but I can feel the power in here XX

Thank you, Rebecca. Things have calmed down, now, but it’s not quite right just yet. Hopefully the future will change all this.

    Love this line:
We cannot call ourselves free, when each vote in the ballot box condemns us to further failure.

all of these pieces convey such strong sentiment….really amazing to read.
