Rainbow (at the back) is a Rainbow Lorikeet, native to the East Coast of Australia. He is a rescue bird. I found him on the side of the road, after being hit by a car? up in Ingham. He had a severely broken wing. My vet and I tried to strap it to get it to heal, with no success. Unfortunately the wing hung and got in the way, so it needed to be amputated. He has lived with myself and Whiskettes for almost 3 years.
Whiskettes is a Red Collared Lorikeet, native to the Top End of Australia. He is a hand raised bird. I have had him since he was around 6 weeks old and was pretty scrappy looking. I know what your thinking,‘but hes got no feathers’. He is now 17yrs old, expected life span is 12 to 14 years. I figure hes allowed to look a bit motley now. Hes still bright as a button and so cheeky. Rainbow, being the younger bird is of course at the top of the pecking order, hence, every photo you see of them together, Rainbow is on the top perch.
Whiskettes and Rainbow have both died in an accident with a dog. I miss them both a lot.
