Artist's Description

This dog painting began as a pen and ink drawing in sepia tones. Rembrandt used brown ink. It seems to give an art piece an old-fashioned feel. Some artists may also apply a brown “wash” to age the piece. In modern times, the computer can be used to age a piece, presenting the image in sepia tones.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. To create the bright and colorful version that you see here, the artist added swirls, curls, hearts, wiggly lines, X’s and O’s one by one in watercolor, taking hours and hours of work time. The result is a pop art piece with details galore. It is fun and happy, “busy” and complicated, a far cry from the simplistic drawing that began it all.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. The boxer is a large family dog, protective, loving, loyal, intelligent and unique. According to the American Kennel Club, the" character of the boxer is of the greatest importance and demands the most solicitous attention. He is renowned from olden times for his great love and faithfulness to his master and household. He is harmless in the family, but distrustful of strangers, bright and friendly of temperament at play, but brave and determined when aroused. His intelligence and willing tractability, his modesty and cleanliness make him a highly desirable family dog and cheerful companion. He is the soul of honesty and loyalty, and is never false or treacherous even in his old age."
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………….A theory from the 1800s maintains that the boxer was developed in Germany as a cross between the mastiff-type bullenbeisser and English bulldog. He has many of the characteristics from both breeds. The boxer is among the ten most popular dogs chosen by American families.
