Far away from any man-made shelter, these snow wolves are scoping out their surroundings from the viewpoint of a small clearing deep in the forest. The tall pines are frost- and snow- laden, as are the wolves themselves.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. The wolves’ fur is wet and matted, glistening in the moon light, but they are moving forward despite the bitter cold. Perhaps they are hoping to find food. Or perhaps they are separated from the pack. The largest of the wolves howls in hopes of finding the others. His vocal chords vibrate in his throat, warming him slightly. Where to next? Will they follow the “Call of the Wild” as others have before them? There are some things that the passing of time does not change – life in the wild is one of those things. Yes, they are wild and free, but freedom has its price.

This breathtaking art piece was created by applying each color with a palette knife, one layer at a time. Details were added with tiny brushes, from the eyes of the wolves to their delicate lips and fine markings. This painting is detailed and intricate, yet bold. Oh to be so free… do I have such power? … do I possess the stamina to truly be free? I yearn for it.

“Snow Wolves” is a painting that is perfect in any room, from home to business to restaurant. It is elegant yet rustic at the same time, keying in on the power of the wolves against the consumption of a wicked winter; yet making the viewer wonder if they won’t somehow beat the odds and emerge triumphant in the spring.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………… This beautiful and unusual piece was done in acrylic paints with a palette knife. This process is known as “impasto.” It creates a look of texture and depth … and in this piece, the depth is extraordinary, as if the forest is just beyond the reach of the viewer and that with just a little bit of magic, he can step right in.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. One wolf howls insistently – can you hear him? Realistic yet impressionistic, the effect is powerful.
