You know that feeling when everything is cold,
You nostalgically look back at when times were gold,
The sun is shining, yet you are shivering,
Good karma just not quite delivering.
People laugh and chatter, giggle and flirt,
Half heartedly you smile looking at the dirt,
The true you like an anker in the ocean,
Not brave enough to surface to the commotion.
Saturated in artificial lust for some bogus sham,
You find ‘the one’, …for the night.
Word spreading, you encourage the rumour,
Yet really, wouldn’t bother with the fight.
Surface talk, positive talk, gossip, your saviours,
They keep distressed eyes off you,
You’re secretly cantankerous towards hearts,
The one you’re fixing, …but those you broke too.
The novel of love, the roads your heart followed,
The streets without signs, well actually you just ceased see.
The cars you stopped. Or trucks you gave wrong turns,
Each speed bump leaving more than just a grazed knee.
Stop being the lion, even the strongest fall down.
Swim too far, you’re just as likely to drown.
Give it up now, whilst you’re not grumpy and old
Give in, do it, ask for the love you need to ease the cold.
