Circle Line Cruise Collection - Lady Liberty by

I have still never been to the Statue of Liberty but this Circle Line Cruise took us close enough for the 2.0mp camera to “see” it.

New York, NY, USA. January 2004.

Fuji FinePix 2600Zoom.

I use no post processing of any kind, unless stated.

Thankyou! Featured in Out of the Blue on 16th July 2010.

Featured in Theme Thursday this fortnight is JOHN VELOCCI – He has curated the TTFF-@ folder on my profile and has been highlighted in the TTFF group. Yay, John! :-)

Wonderful! It does look like you were out in the middle of no place LOL!

  • Well, no place, or the Hudson. One of those ;-)

Great capture… from the boat I am assuming… awesome our Lady!!!! :))))

  • Yes, it was from the boat :-) You know, I was back in NYC last year and was thinking that I had not seen the SOL close up before, only from Battery Park (?) and so on (and the TV of course!) so it was a real eye opener to find all these images from 2004 :-)

LOL, I’ve only been to the base but not int it!

  • So far I have not even been to the base… apart from on GTA 4 when I then climbed it and I THINK threw someone off the top of it…. after picking up a free T-Shirt and shooting 2 pigeons of course (I don’t mind the other parts of the game but hate shooting the pigeons, so cruel, hehe)… in all seriousness though, I would like to go to that island in the future but this is as close as I have made it thus far :-)

WooooHoooo! Congratulations Joanne! Great capture! Ellis Island is great! Went years ago (before the facelift!) and it was magical! Walked up 3/4 of the way but not all the way to the top:~)

  • Thanks :-) Funnily enough, I have not been to Ellis Island though I think I should… not been to Liberty Island either. Went to Staten Island, that was nice… until I misplaced my Metro card and spent the remainder of the bus journey in a panic :-P Need to do it again for sure :-)

I love how the way you composed this photo. Great placement of your subject and the blue sky background looks GREAT!

  • Thank you! So lucky to get that sky as it was January… could so easily have been grey and cloudy… was lucky too that the river was calm enough to get some decent photographs :-D

I still say that this 2mp camera was so much better than my current 12mp one… of course the memory cards are obselete now and the AA batteries were annoying to carry… but it was superior in many ways :-D

Marvellous statue and greta shot as well! Love it!

  • Thanks! Proof, I think that 2mp are as good as 12mp :-P I will be in NY with my dSLR a couple of times this year and wonder if my photos will bring me as much of a smile as this one does. :-)

Wonderful offering and thank God the USA is still the “The land of the free and the home of the brave”.

  • Thank you. I recently went back onto the Circle Line Cruise and I shall look for an updated version of this. For some reason, I think my dear 2mp point and shoot did a better job than my telephoto lens… I’ll look anyway :-) I think that the disparity between the freedoms in the world is shocking. Then again here in the UK I think we may be a little too free when I see some of the stuff people can just get away with. I really appreciate you stopping by :-)
