Sentosa as I loved it - Pretty Princesses of Singapore. by

These trees were all around the Visitors Centre (RIP) and gardens (RIP) by the dragon walk (RIP) heading up to the musical fountain (RIP)… along the side of the coast, next to the monorail station (RIP)… you get my drift… it’s all gone now and it’s going to be a mega mall and casino. GREAT for a country where gambling of any form is illegal shakes head and sighs.

Anyway, THESE were just by the entrance to the monorail station.

Thankyou Susie for identifying these as Frangipani.

I then went to this site and THINK that they are Pretty Princesses to me they look the same anyway…. please correct me if I am wrong :-)

Sentosa, Singapore. March 2003.

Beautiful flowers ~ are they frangipani … so delicate :)

  • Thanks Susie for identifying them! Sadly the visitors centre where I saw these no longer exists. Sentosa really has been ruined :-(

Lovely frangipani shot, EM — you also get white frangipanis with a delicate yellow centre and then there’s the softer pink variety too.In winter they’re just sticks though. No leaves, no flowers. Great scent though!

  • Thanks! I originally searched “Singapore Frangipani” and those are the white ones with a yellow centre.

I was shocked how many varieties there were.

As they do not have winter in Singapore, I do not know if these trees are ever bare… sadly the ones in this area are now part of a construction site.

Gorgeous! I love these aromatic flowers!

  • I can’t remember what they smell like.. around the visitors centre though, there were SO many smells all mingling in the humidity… I just love the smell of Singapore in general… next time I am there I shall find some flowers and see if those are what create the underlying fragrance :-)
