I arrived and went for a walk near my Flinders Street accomodation… saw this and decided to try to get some photographs… sadly my camera was starting to deteriorate… this is the best one I got.
I did not return to this spot though as to be honest I was a little scared for some reason… just had a bad feeling about being there.
Next time I am sure that it will be fine!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. November 2009.
Canon IXUS 850is. No flash or tripod.
I use no post processing of any kind, unless stated.
This is lovely don’t sweat it iv always found the city quite disturbing myself
I’ll definitely return, especially now I have made some more friends there… but I shall stay in a hotel rather than the YHA so that at the end of each day or each trek out I have my own space. I had NONE in Melbourne as my dorm mate was pretty much ALWAYS in and was rather weird ;-)
This is simply gorgeous!!! Great perspective and the lights are sooooo beautiful!!
Thankyou! The blue tower is very tall and has an observation deck on it… yes I went up there! The walls are made of gold apparently and there is a glass cube that comes out… I saw it and would not have been scared to go on it but was not impressed enough with it to pay the extra money ;-)
Great shot. You certainly get around ! London NY Melbourne etc
Thanks! That was just in one year, lol… (OK well technically the photos spanned a few years, but yes I did both NY (twice, albeit on the same trip… 3 times if you count changing trains in Penn station) and Melbourne last year… ironically since discovering RB I have not left the country… That will change next year once I move :-)
I know this view so well. Next time you’re here, I’ll gather some of my Melbourne RB colleagues and accompany you to the same spot so you can shoot EXACTLY the same angle. Yes, I do understand what you mean – and we must ALWAYS follow our instincts.
Thank you! You know, I have had these instincts before and said “nah forget it” and gone against those instincts… in each of those time something has happened. Never catastrophic but varying levels of Not Good… I really felt uneasy through most of my time in Melbourne, which is a shame as I still think “oh when I go back….” Next time I shall stay somewhere slightly different and have met so many Melbourne based people that I have a feeling it will be a lot better!
