HMS Victory - On "Tall Ships" List for challenge. by

The HMS Victory where Nelson served, slept and fell, sits in dry dock in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. This is classified in this list of tall ships as a tall ship, although I found it interesting that the HMS Warrior was not.

There was talk that the city would be losing the Victory. I hope that never happens.

Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. November 2008.

Canon 400d 18-55mm lens.

I use no post processing of any kind unless stated.

Whoa…so big! what a glorious ship!
LOVE your image, how you shot it…the masts go waaaaay up into space!

  • Hi Robin! It’s actually smaller when you see it “in real life” there’s a larger one (which always looks smaller as it’s in the harbour itself)… or one that I believe is larger, outside the dockyard. This was Lord Nelson’s ship and inside there is a plaque saying “Nelson fell here”… the joke being that you would too if there was not rope around it :-P I’ve not been inside for at least 20 years, it was a standard school outting place. I wonder if that’s still the case with all the health and safety nonsense in place now? :-P
