Norwegian national anthem springs to mind when I see this photograph… On a ferry over a fjord on the journey between Alta and Narvik. Will try to find out the name of the fjord some day.
I was very happy to be able to catch the flag in the exact way that I wanted: out in full with just a little rippling. I did manage to get it full and totally straight too, but this one pleased me more…
Ja, vi elsker dette landet, som det stiger frem, furet, værbitt over vannet, med de tusen hjem. Elsker, elsker det og tenker på vår far og mor og den saganatt som senker drømmer på vår jord.
Yes, we love this land as it rises forth, rugged and weather-bitten (?!) over the water, with the thousand homes. Love, love it and thinking of our father and mother and the saga night which descends/sinks (casts?) dreams over our Earth.

I am Norwegian and I love this simple yet effective photograph. Norway is a proud country and you have done it justice by photographing this beautiful image. The mast and the sky and the flag all flow so well together and create such a peaceful theme. Good job !
Thankyou. I get so calm looking at this image, although the fact I was sailing across on a ferry at the time helps me relive that feeling anyway. Ja, jeg elsker landet ditt… so much in fact that at this moment it is my profile picture as part of my “grateful” theme :-)

Love that song & your photo! I’m a dual national ..born in the USA but deeply steeped in the Norsk culture thanks to the way I was raised and times I’ve lived over there :)
Thanks! I am 100% English but I put this as my user picture a while back and have not yet changed it. Norway means a LOT to me even though it was a long time since I lived there :-)
