This cassowary was in Jurong Bird Park, Singapore. in 2002?

Fuji FinePix 2600zoom. (2.0 megapixels)

I use no post processing of any kind, unless stated.

For the endangered species group:

The following is taken from this website

As an endangered and nationally listed species, there is help being directed towards protection and hopefully recovery of cassowary numbers but there is still much that needs to be done. The concern and action of everyone who resides in the Wet Tropics area is needed to save this bird but there are still too many people who aren’t sufficiently interested.

Featured in Theme Thursday this fortnight is JOHN VELOCCI – redbubble.com/people/baneling He has curated the TTFF-@ folder on my profile and has been highlighted in the TTFF group. Yay, John! :-)

Odd looking bird, but a wonderful image!

  • Thanks, they really are incredible.. and vicious! I was not quite as close as the image suggests… although of course maybe closer than I should have been with a 2.0mp camera :-P

Was Cassie wary? !!!! I wonder if you were in Singapore at the same time as we were ….

  • It’s possible! This was 2002 I think, maybe 2003… last time was on the way home from Australia in November. I’ve been enough times that it is possible we crossed paths somewhere. :-P

I’m telling you, they are direct descendants from dinosaurs!! Great portrait, strange bird!

  • That would not surprise me! Thankyou :-)

Beautiful colors. Sharp and clear image….it almost looks prehistoric, doesn’t it?

  • Thanks! :-) I sometimes wonder why the photos from my 2.0mp camera are far better than some from my dSLR then stop worrying and enjoy ☺

Yes, they definitely look like they would not be out of place with the dinosaurs!! :-)
