I love snakes and reptiles, weird I know, seeing as I have such a literal terror of butterflies and the like. Anyway for some reason my photos from Adelaide Zoo’s reptile house were not my best… with one exception. I am happy with this. His eye is in focus, the colours of his scales are clear where they need to be.
Please please please if you are out there taking photographs of reptiles in dark reptile houses or of fish in aquariums or nocturnal animals (you are getting the picture now I am sure) please do NOT use flash photography. Ever. It p**ses them off. It hurts them. Not to mention ruins the light of sensitive/sensible people who just change the light settings on their cameras, only to have a bizarre exposure when someone else’s flash goes off.
Seriously though… they are in dark dark exhibits for a reason. If you cannot cut the flash on your camera or phone, then please do not depress that shutter :-) Thankyou.
Madagascan Tree Boa (thankyou DragonFlyer for making me check on this!!!) or Sanzinia madagascariensis
