4 days until Spring and… there was a blizzard so thick you could no longer see the skyscrapers. I don’t care, I loved it. I have been to NY in the winter before and even when I went in January one year, there was no snow. Not a flake. Until the day I left, of course. When I went in February it was for one night only both times so I did not get to the park. Finally, finally, I saw snow in Central Park…. on St. Patrick’s Day, lol. It was fine though, I was prepared with layers, unlike some of the parade goers in shorts and tees :-P

Anyway….. thought I would share this, I was happy that the rocks were in focus so you can really see how much of an effect the snow had on visibility. Would I go again in the snow? Any day of the week, I loved it.

Ooooo…this is lovely! There’s such an intriguing mood about it, too! A little eerie, a little mysterious. WOW!! The detail in the foreground is super! Is that a duck near the ripples in the water?
    What a delight!

  • Thanks Robin!!! :-D Yes there were a couple of ducks out, before the snow it was a bright day and while there was indeed a weather warning, it still came down quite suddenly… from a few flakes in the wind to ok, just cold, to full on blizzard. It was awesome.A little eerie and a little mysterious sums up New York anyway, sometimes ;-) Thanks again for an awesome comment :-D

Love the ethereal quality of this one.

  • Thank you! I was so happy at how this came out. I have a feeling my dSLR would not have been able to understand what I was looking at as well as this camera did :-)

    Superbly creative work!

    I like this very much.

  • Thank you! I saw it snowing and could barely see the buildings. I took a gamble that the photo would come out and it did…. straight from memory card to Redbubble. I am happy that people are looking at this again. :-) I appreciate the red spot. Thanks! :-)

    beautiful, moody shot

  • Thank you! Sorry, been on the work computer which runs a very very old version of IE so could not reply to comments for a few weeks. I didn’t care how bad the snow was, I could not resist this :-)

Really caught my eye. Your use of the skeletal branches to frame the mist-wreathed buildings is artful.

  • Thanks! Not 20 minutes earlier, it would have been as clear as anything. However there were specks of snow here and there…. then this full on blizzard. Completely opposite to my return later in the year (I was at this exact spot not quite by design) when it was about 30 degrees (30C as opposed to the 30F in this photo). :-)
