Scramble the Squirrel by ellismorleyphto

This was Scramble from the Rambles. You would be forgiven for thinking this was a classic case of thinking this was “Autumn in New York” but you would be wrong. It was a few days before Spring and I walked home in a blizzard. The people over the East side of the Park were not complaining though dressed in all their green finery.

The Rambles, Central Park, NYC, NY, USA. 17th March 2013.

Canon 400d 75-300mm lens.

As is. Straight from camera.

Featured in Theme Thursday this fortnight is JOHN VELOCCI – He has curated the TTFF-@ folder on my profile and has been highlighted in the TTFF group. Yay, John! :-)

What a beauty! LOVE the pose, too…like he (she?) is waiting for you to say something. Gorgeous details!

  • Thanks. I have another photo of him (her? I call all squirrels “him” I’m not sure how to tell the difference apart from the obvious) in portrait form. He did come up for a chat. One thing I love about squirrels is that every one of them gives a “who, me?!” pose. No matter where you are. I made a few squirrel “friends” when I was away, it’s always a shame to walk away from them.

Oh, he’s adorable, Joanne! It does look like he’s waiting for you to say something ,and I’m glad he came up for a chat. It sounds like you have a way with animals!

  • Thanks. I don’t know how I can get them to come up to me. Sometimes I don’t want them to come up because I am in a hurry but they do. I then have to stop and say hello, of course.

    Love your squirrels!!

  • Thanks! They do tend to come up to me… proof that I’m clearly nuts.

What a splendid animal capture! He is looking straight at you and posing so nicely! Definitely adding this little cutie to my Favourites.

  • Thank you! He and I had a lot of conversation… until he got a little skittish… it kept trying to snow and there was a full on blizzard about an hour later. Batty (from Battery Park City of course!) on the next photo also chatted to me for quite a while… until he started to eat his peanut and I explained to him that I had to take quite a few steps back so that he didn’t “get” me with the crumbs. Why I can “talk” to squirrels and pigeons is beyond me but hey I am not complaining ;-)
