beauty in the abandoned 3
australia – somewhere between melbourne and the coast. december 2007.
there was the aftermath of a party and the two chairs pulled aside – away from it all…
one crowded hour – augie march
...And for one crowded hour, you were the only one in the room
And I sailed around all those bumps in the night to your beacon in the gloom…

G’day Megan,
This reminds me of the days when as a kid I was taken to suburban School of Arts halls for square dances, parties, wedding receptions and concerts. Each one had bare windows and floorboards and the walls were always painted some ‘orrible colour. As my parents were almost always part of the organising team we stayed until the last guest left then began cleaning up the hall. At times after sweeping the floor and moving the chairs around I would see a scene just like this. Thanks for the memories.
A subject that can have as many meanings as there will be people to view this photograph, you have composed the shot well, (although I suggest cutting off a strip from the top, bringing the top edge of frame down to eliminate all of the ceiling – scroll up to see what I mean), exposed it well in that difficult light and with a good depth of field, focus and focal point rendered a clear, crisp image.
Colours, tones and contrasts are pleasing and natural.
Nice work.

Such a clever image, bold colours, perfect lines and composition!
“Photographers do this for a living, every single day—they point their lenses toward every single corner of our world and somehow make the mundane mesmerizing through their artistic eye. It’s all a matter of being aware of your surroundings and realizing that there are some really amazing and interesting things to look at, even if it may just be something so simple as a wall being covered up by paint.”
Ward Jenkins
