Got into “imagined” lives of turn of the century women, less exact portraits, more records of how they might have felt.

I think this painting is excellent. Obviously, you have a talent for painting portraits, Ellen. I especially like the skin tones and the eyes. I’m guessing you are attracted to Eyes. Well, along with Cats/Kittens!!!

  • Jacque, thank you for your wonderful comments. You are right about eyes…. I am very drawn to them. their effect in the face, the light they transmit and emotion… In every kind of face, human or not. I look forward to doing more studies of people. Doing them as the subject….requires a lot…. Takes a lot of study and observation, for me.. But wonderful to do, when I have time and focus to work on them.
    Best! Ellen.

Thank you, Chris. This is my favorite of these faces. I worked on cold press w. color paper , something I don’t usually do. It helped the pigments depose in ways which were very useful . Will have to try more cold press and more careful faces. I do faces all the time but real portraits only occasionally. Best! Ellen
