Now that’s a close up! Awesome timing with this capture Ellen. Don’t worry about the foreground, I think the soft colouring alone really does compliment it – all focus is on the ladybird. The wings are amazing.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the foreground – nothing a bit of editing wouldn’t fix.
The focus on his wings is perfect and the dof is perfect too.
When they decide they want to fly it happens in an instant, so you did very well to capture this.

Personally I think this is a very nice shot but if you are worried by the foreground some light cropping should do the trick. However based on all the comments I don’t think it is necessary. :)

Its a beautiful photo, even with the “aged” petal or leaf in the foreground… that’s Mother Nature reminding us that beauty is in everything, not just the pretty colourful living creatures. I actually think that if it wasn’t there, it would look too perfect!!!
